Getting Started with Dr. Vento

  • The first step is to make sure you have an established Primary Care Provider (PCP; can be a MD, DO, CNP or PA-C) who you have seen in the last 24 months. Being an established patient in a clinic with multiple providers is ok  as long as they are following your overall physical health.  As a prescribing psychologist, Dr. Vento is required to collaborate with the provider in charge of a patient's general health care.  Please provide us with the name, office location, phone number and fax number of your PCP.  If you do not have one at this time, please contact the office for suggestions.

  • The next step is that we must verify your insurance coverage and eligibility. You will need to go to the Home page and click on the Insurance Eligibility button. Once your insurance eligibility is verified, we will then notify you and send you all the paperwork needed for the next step.

  • Like any medical practice, NM Psych Med Services has new patient paperwork that must be completed before you can be seen.  I understand it's long and asks for a fair amount of detail, especially about the past medications and health conditions. This information is necessary both to provide high quality care as well as to streamline the prior authorization process if I have to politely ask insurance companies for newer and more expensive medications than they prefer you take.  Even if we have worked together in the past and you think I already know your story, I would appreciate putting it down again here because I would hate to accidentally mix up your important clinical details with those of another person with a parallel pattern of symptoms and experiences. There should be a way to complete the forms on a phone, laptop, or tablet and then submit them electronically; please let Dr Vento know if you run into any issues.  I cannot meet with you until the paperwork is completed.

  • Contact the office by phone or text at 505-289-0641 to set up an appointment time, please indicate some possible times in this framework:  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8:00-4:30 Tuesday: 7:00-12:00 Friday 8:00-10:00.
